The primary reason is its versatility. Thanks to its very useful focal length range, along with a large maximum aperture of f/2.8, it worked out great for photographing many different types of subjects. Zoomed into 50-70mm, it also served me well as a portrait lens, thanks to its ability to beautifully render out of focus areas. As you will see from the next page of this review, the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is optically superb, offering the most consistent performance we have seen among all similar class zoom lenses.
The Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S focuses down to 0.38m for a maximum magnification of 0.22x. The digital info display on the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is undeniably useful, but not always easy to see in daylight. In darker or indoor conditions, however, the lens info display is very clear indeed.
